Our First Home away from home…

Post By: Jake

This past weekend Veronica and I finally pulled the trigger and bought a very lightly used 1966 Aristocrat Travelier travel trailer. It’s a short 13-footer, but is perfect for the 2 of us. I’ve always been adamantly opposed to “campers” and car camping in general. The only times I didn’t mind car camping was on long road trips as a way to save money instead of hoteling it. I guess I’m getting old because I couldn’t be more thrilled to have a camper now! It will definitely get us out more this summer as we can very quickly hook up the camper and head out of town, instead of packing all our gear and carefully plan out where to go for the weekend. Then, if it rains we have to come home early enough Sunday morning with wet gear that needs to be re-set up, cleaned and dried out. Don’t get me wrong, we’ll still backpack. But now, our time at the trailhead is spent in style and I feel better leaving Friday night to camp at the trailhead, instead of WAY TOO EARLY on Saturday morning.

Anyways, I just think it’ll open the opportunity to more easily get out and enjoy the mountains, streams, and lakes of Montana this summer.
